The installation unites painting with sculpture, ancient rice with instant noodles, and craft with found objects. A found window within the work suggests an initial boundary inside a gallery context. Contributing to the boundary, I render a crooked steel railing with uneven welds and make a clumsy array of defective ceramics haphazardly dipped in glazes revealing subtle imprints of dried rice within their bodies. On the wall, a painting alludes to a curtain devoid of any figures, as the viewers become the figures while they walk through the space.

Incorporating everyday household objects such as a cheap IKEA paper lantern, I replenish the space with ceramics bearing rice grains and dried instant ramen noodles from my flat. I think about the role of globalisation within these banal objects and what associations they carry for each viewer that encounters them. The materials also point to my ongoing investigation of authenticity and disconnection from heritage and place.
